Minutes for 2003-10-19

The Java topic for tonight was Applets by Steve Grody.  We discussed what they are, how they are created, what is required by the client, and then did a hands-on sample.  Quirks about how browsers cache them was discovered on some machines.  www.anfyteam.com and www.javaboutique.com were mentioned as site that have various examples and downloads.

The second part of the meeting involved upgrading our Linux server.  We installed a 2nd hard drive (40G), switch the boot options and partitions, and got it up and running (before midnight!).   Many thanks to Ahmed for the donation of the harddrive, and Matt for his expertise in a difficult install (we were missing IDE ribbon connectors to have the CDROM available during the install).
