Good news for using java with Ubuntu, this means that I won't have to
jump through (albeit very easy) hoops to install java.
What other possibilities does this lead to? Good and bad.
Good - Faster fixes to Java bugs and performance issues?
Reality - Are there people out there with the resources and time to
wade into the java source and make the necessary changes that are not
already employed by sun? Is anyone here planning on trying? Will Sun
accept such patches?
Bad - Split Java implementations. Is this a possibility? If Sun
doesn't accept a patch that improves speed dramatically, but only on
Linux, will the developer fork Java and go his own way? Is this a bad
thing?
Just thinking out loud.
Ben
